Today we
dived into messiness – Abstract Expressionism! Students were briefly introduced
to the history, artists and the methods used in this art. Next, we brought the
class out in the open and let them explore and create their very own
Abstract
Expressionism masterpiece.
This activity
allowed our students to discover the emotional pleasures of sensory and tactile
play while they learnt to explore this new method. Furthermore it helped
develop important cognitive, socio-emotional and multi-sensory skills.
Learning
outcome: Introduction to Abstract Expressionism, colour mixing, composition,
freedom of movement, space and arty fun!
